A Greek Orthodox wedding is unlike any other day we photograph — and after more than ten years shooting them across Melbourne, from the churches around Oakleigh to parishes right across the city, we’ve learned how to capture every part of it without ever getting in the way of the ceremony.
We know how a Greek wedding actually runs
The Orthodox ceremony isn’t short. Most run 45 minutes to an hour or more, and the timing matters when you’re planning your day — it affects when portraits happen, when guests arrive at the reception, and how much daylight you’ll have left. A photographer who hasn’t shot a Greek wedding before can be caught out by this. We plan around it.
More importantly, we know the moments that matter and exactly when they happen:
- The Stefana (crowning): When the koumbaro swaps the crowns over the couple’s heads, it happens quickly and it’s the emotional heart of the ceremony. We’re in position before it starts.
- The common cup and the Dance of Isaiah: The first steps you take as a married couple, circling the table three times. We capture it from the right angle without crowding the priest.
- The candles, the rings, the joining of hands: The small, quiet rituals that tell the story of the day.
Greek Orthodox churches are often beautiful but dimly lit inside. We bring the equipment and the experience to shoot in that light while keeping your photos natural — no harsh flash firing through a sacred moment.
Big families, big celebrations
Greek weddings are rarely small. The guest list is large, the reception runs long, and the energy on the dance floor — the kalamatiano, the money pinned to the couple, the families together — is something we love to capture. With photography and videography from one team, nothing gets missed across a big, busy day. Around nine in ten of our couples book photography and videography together for exactly this reason.

We photograph Greek weddings across Melbourne — the Oakleigh churches at the centre of the Greek community, parishes through the inner south and north, and receptions at venues all over the city and into the wine country. There are no travel charges anywhere in Victoria.
